Dear Parents and Students,
Our school has experienced a tragedy that has affected us deeply. Let me briefly review the facts of the situation. On Saturday night, five students from our school were involved in a car accident in downtown Los Angeles. One of them was released after being treated in the hospital. As of today, three students remain in the hospital. Unfortunately, Danny Wong, a junior who has been with us for three years, died in the accident.
Students and staff will react in different ways to these kinds of events. We, therefore, should expect, try to understand, and accept a variety of emotions and behaviors. The most important thing we should do is to be supportive and to encourage our youngsters to sahre their feelings and emotions.
We have implemented a plan for responding to this situation and helping our students and theif families. This plan has evolved from our District's experiences in dealing with crises. Our school and district staff is available to the students who need special attention and support. We can also provide referrals for outside consultation if needed. We will try to maintain a normal routine and structure as the situation allows and encourage you to do the same. If you feel that your children and/or your family are in need of assistance, please contact your child's Grade Level Coordinator by calling the Guidance Office, 909-594-1405. As pertinent information becomes available we will share it with you.
We know that you will join us in our concern, support and sympathy for those involved and affected in this incident. Our thoughts are with Danny's friends and his family. We appreciate your cooperation and assistance.
Sincerely,
Denis Paul
Principal
