In environmental science we learned about the Mayagna people. They're experiencing cultural extinction. Their land is stolen and sold by the government and they are treated as second class citizens. Missionaries did come and introduce the gospel to these people and they do have church every sunday, but they live in such poverty and they are in need of so much. Is it the missionaries job to take care of that also? Do missionaries play a political role in shaping how these people live? ...well, it's tough. Many indigenous people are taken advantage of. They are hired for work and when they are injured they are abandoned.
It's hard to understand how God could let this happen... I don't know. Lord, You are God and I am not. I pray that you would give me compassion for the lost.

Also: Everyone seems to have their future all planned out. Now that people are being admitted to colleges I overhear conversations about med school and law school, etc. Where is my place in all this? It's so easy to get caught up in living for myself. Lord, I'm unsure about my future, but it's all in Your hands. I pray that I would remain faithful through all this.
It feels like all this mission stuff was a dream and now I have to face reality... but Lord, send me! Help me to realize the need of worship in this world. May I be zealous for Your glory. May You be my one passion. God, give me a burning desire to spread Your word. May I not be blinded by the wealth of this world. Give me faith that works, love that labors and hope that perseveres.

The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
